Being a leader in 2022 is a formidable challenge, with the ongoing digitalization, remote working, material scarcity, inflation, and overlapping crises all testing the principles of our market economy and the traditional notions of leadership.

(Many) years ago, I joined a teambuilding activity and training given by a respected sports coach. While different colleagues shared some of our team collaboration challenges, the tall imposing man only had one - though consistent - response: “the problem and the solution lies within you”. With every new challenge and his same reply, our frustrations kept rising. Why didn’t we get proper answers? What about the context, the wider team dynamics? What about the others and their actions? It could not all come down to “changing yourself first”?!
